Timber Frame Floor Plans

99% of our clients want and need customization.

Here at Arrow Timber Framing, we want to make sure that you should have as much control over the design process as possible. To assist in empowering you with the confidence to achieve your dream home aspirations, we have assembled a showcase of floor plans across a range of aesthetic styles.

The 3 Most Important Things to Consider:

1. You customize both your floor plan and hybrid timber frame package so you get maximum flexibility in design.

2. You get access to a deep reach of trusted design partners who have a proven track record of working with ATF Timber Packages.

3. What people have found to work best is to set up a 30-90 minute Brainstorm to get started. You will be a short checklist to streamline your ideas, desires, and goals, so you leave the brainstorm with solid information and clear next steps.

Gather your thoughts and ideas from our fully customizable timber frame home plans.

The intent behind offering these plans is to give you an idea of the range of possibilities that a hybrid timber frame home can offer you. The expanding inventory of homes that we have built and designed run the gamut of aesthetic disciplines.

You are almost certain to get ideas and things you like to pick and choose from.

If you do not see a floor plan in our collection with a close resemblance to what you want- DON’T PANIC! This is often the case. Even for clients who think they have found a floor plan that matches their needs very closely, they have historically made substantial customizations as they have worked through the finalization tradeoffs with our trusted design partners. In general, floor plans serve as great inspiration and conversation starters.

“How can we get a warmer, more inviting entry?” The clerestory on the main body of the home made reversing the entry-porch roof slope a natural extension, which shows off the warmth of the timbers.

Also, we opted for smaller timbers spaced more frequently, for a lighter modern style. The natural-stone post base is one element that is always appreciated and works with almost any style.

“You really are more than just a timber framer. It must be a lot of fun to help pull things together!” the owner told us. Pulling things together is our specialty here at ATF. It’s important because post-and-beam construction will have a huge impact on how a project looks and feels. It’s a focal point, so it has to be just right!

Everything has to be in perfect balance. Wall heights, roof slopes, roof profiles, textures, colors, etc. are all considered to create personalized timber packages.

The Pinebrook Homestead

The die has been cast. The truss style was set. Now, where to add timbers to unify the whole theme? Everything had to come together. The had to be a complete, unified whole. The gable truss above the entry was a no-brainer. The garage was relatively easy, aside from modifying the roof. The surprising problem was the corbels on the upper dormer.

There were buildability issues which didn’t affect the timbers but would mar the beauty of the facade. Working with the builder and architect, the roof lines and walls were adjusted. That is what the ATF process is about: A beautiful, balanced end product.

“I want it big. I want it rustic. Really big!”, the owner of Tuscany Homes was talking our language: big, strong, sturdy, and stout. I knew the project was going to be fun. We had preliminary plans and a short, clear description of the style that he and his wife wanted.

With the preliminary plans done and ample time for the timber design, the stage was set to come up with some creative timber options, which would meet the ATF criteria: Great aesthetics, WOW factor, balance, big-picture consistency, and client delight!

Barely audible over the construction noise, I heard him walk up behind me. “We’ve got to make the great room beefier.”

I turned and straightened up. He continued, “what do you think about pushing this wall out and applying another truss here?” (he knew I would not say yes, simply to sell more timber, and had always looked out for his interests). I walked around and nodded slowly. It would be a good improvement.
